BOLOGNA, July 31st, 2019 — TAIF and Bio-on announce the start of the operational phase of the 10,000 tons/year polyhydroxyalkanoate (PHA) project that will be implemented in the Republic of Tatarstan, Russia.

On July 25, a delegation of TAIF Group led by the new Director General Ruslan Shigabutdinov and his Principal Advisor for Development Albert Shigabutdinov (former Director General of TAIF JSC) visited Bio-on and its production and R&D facilities in Castel San Pietro Terme (Bologna).
During the visit, Bio-on showed to the Russian
partners the production plant and all its sections in operation. This facility produces micropowders for cosmetic applications. Bio-on and TAIF agreed on the criteria for the completion of the PHA project in Tatarstan, based on Bio-on's technology, and defined industrial strategies related to this project.
The project therefore enters its implementation phase; the engineering activities, performed by third-party contractors, are already underway, and the turn-key contract for the plant construction will be awarded by the end of the year.

The plant will be built in the special economic and industrial zone of Alabuga, with an initial capacity of 10,000 tons/year already set up for a further possible expansion (doubling) of its capacity.
TAIF will be engaged in the plant construction through 2BIO JSC.
