Vladimir Busygin: “Nizhnekamskneftekhim” employees will be paid their wages on time”

“Vremja I Dengi” newspaper published yesterday about the reduction in days of the working week and the placing on administrative leave on OJSC “Nizhnekamskneftekhim”. Yesterday, the company’s management addressed to the editorial of the newspaper with the official comments in this respect. General director of OJSC “Nizhnekamskneftekhim” Vladimir Busygin told “Vremja I Dengi” what was happening on the company:
“The world crisis influenced OJSC “Nizhnekamskneftekhim”, as well. Within last decade the huge work was done on the company to reach the monthly volume of production of 45 th tons with seven types of rubber produced. These volumes were produced till current October. Nevertheless, the volumes of production in December will be only 18 th tons, as the rubber processing plants all over the world shutdown the production.
Besides, the fall of the price for production was influenced, as well, by the significant increase of the cost of energy and heat power, especially taking into account that OJSC “Nizhnekamskneftekhim” is the main consumer in the “Tatenergo” system using about 45% of total volume of energy used by the Republican companies. Along with the prices for energy and heat, the financial plans of the company are adjusted for the situation with the raw materials supplies that is currently discussed with all global players.
Talking about the company’s staff, no lay-off is expected as of today. But, in connection with shutdown of a number of facilities producing unprofitable goods that are having no demand right now, we have to place our employees on administrative leave with salary at 2/3 of full salary. The Company’s management will have a four-days working week. We will use the given lay time for maintenance works, for coating of equipment, and necessary works on units. After all, the facilities are going to be restarted soon while now we will develop the time reserve to fulfill the plan in the future.
The labor payments will be made in due time, as it always remains the priority task for my colleagues and me. The social obligations taken by us and stipulated in the labor agreement for this year are fulfilled or to be completed soon. Next year, we will be working in accordance with the adopted strategic plan because we see our future in the prospective programs.
From one side the plans of our rubber consumers for 2009 are optimistic while from the other side there are worries about the shutdown of production and that the consumer have not decided yet about the volumes necessary in 1Q of coming year. That is why we should take the global decision in order to minimize the negative effects of the current situation and world crisis.
Let me add here that people working in the sector of chemicals, petrochemicals and refining were always living as a strong, united family. Our welfare depends on the level of support provided to each other. The Company’s management will apply all its efforts to pay attention to every employee.
