From July 01 this year, ahead of the formal schedule, TAIF-NK PSC started producing a new BND 50/70 grade of road bitumen according to the new public standard. New bitumen production requirements – GOST 33133-2014Ñ – shall enter into force from September 01, 2016 in the territory of the Customs Union states.
This regulatory document prescribes stricter assessment requirements for road surface ageing resistance along with introduction of some testing and bitumen adhesiveness determination methods that help simulate real impact on the road surface being used. TAIF-NK managed to assimilate the production of a new bitumen grade ahead of the schedule by making changes to its manufacturing technology. The capacity of the company’s bitumen production unit is 120 thousand tons a year.
Bitumen produced according to the new GOST requirements is expected to significantly improve the road construction quality. With new high-quality bitumen, highways will be provided with additional protection from early wear since advanced adhesive materials will be used.
It should be reminded that from September 01 this year, GOST 33133-2014 requirements will be mandatory for construction, reconstruction, major overhaul and utilization of motorways.
