Hyundai to Cooperate with Tatarstan in the Field of Oil Refining and Power Engineering

Hyundai Corporation, South Korea, is in a position to expand its cooperation with Tatarstan in the field of oil refining, power engineering and waste disposal, according to the information ITAR-TASS obtained from the press service of the Head of the Republic. A respective agreement was reached today at the meeting held in the Kazan Kremlin between Rustam Minnikhanov, the President of the republic, and Keun Woo Park, General Director, Hyundai Corporation Moscow and CIS.

When greeting the delegation from the Republic of Korea, Minnikhanov thanked Hyundai, which was the general partner of the Student Games (Universiade) 2013 in Kazan. The Student Games were supplied with 1,050 motor cars and 525 busses that were highly appreciated by the participants and guests.

The parties discussed the ways of cooperation in the field of oil refining and power engineering. The guests expressed their intention to establish direct contacts with Nizhnekamskneftekhim, Kazanorgsintez, TAIF in terms of design engineering, construction and modernization of petrochemical and power engineering facilities.

Hyundai possesses huge experience in the field of waste recycling and disposal. We are willing to cooperate with you in this industry, Minnikhanov suggested.

In Korea, government has been dealing with this environmental issue since 1990. Our technologies cover the area with a 23 million population, Keun Woo Park stated. Primary separation of garbage is arranged for each apartment, and the wastes collected are converted into energy. That being said, our citizens are interested in waste recycling because it prevents the growth in the utility costs.

The Korean project should be thoroughly studied, its pay-back and environmental effect must be estimated, Minnikhanov added. He gave a task to establish a working group that will include the representatives from the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, the Executive Committees of Kazan and other cities, in order to adopt and implement the Korean experience.
